To kick off a new season of online classes this year, I'm starting with one of my bread-and-butter illustration jobs: book covers.
What will the workshop include?
A talk on the different approaches to book cover design, including idea generation, current trends, series branding, and the role of designers in the publishing process.
A practical workshop where you’ll combine your own illustration style with these design principles to create a book cover for children. I'll provide a couple briefs you can work to – one for younger children and the other for a middle grade audience. You'll leave with a thoughtfully designed portfolio piece underway.
A Q&A session where you can ask me anything about the process.
